The Effect of Argon Inert Gas on the Laser Welding Quality of Co-Cr and Ni-Cr Base Metal Alloys

The purpose of this research was to study the effect Argon inert gas on laser welding quality Co-Cr and Ni-Cr base metal alloys, which are widely used as Fixed Prosthodontics alloys in Dental Laboratories. A total 36 specimens were manufactured (18 alloy 18 alloy). then divided into 3 subgroups (6 each): control; argon-welded; non-Argon welded. cut, welded, radiographed finally tested under tensile strength testing, followed by examination using Scanning Electron Microscopy. welded lower than non-welded specimens, however difference not found be statistically significant. material factor (Co-Cr or alloy) has a significant strength, while presence gas, well combination two factors do have effect. process applied daily practice (separation specimen, formation cones contact, aggregation cones, filling remaining gap welding) is considered satisfactory terms weld strength. material, an independent factor, affects degree, contrast does affect degree.
